Obituary of Hermance Winshell
Hermance (Caron) Winshell, 73, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of Bernard Winshell, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13, her birthday, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lac Baker, New Brunswick, Canada and moved to Connecticut with her family at 18 and resided in Glastonbury for many years. She was the daughter of the late George Caron and Denise Nadeau Caron. Besides her husband Bernie, she is survived by her mother-in-law Margaret Winshell of Glastonbury, two step-sons Gregory Winshell and companion Michelle Shumney of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Winshell and wife Sissy Nunez of Austin, TX, three sisters, Georgette LaPlante and husband Gerard of New Brunswick, Odette Kennedy and husband Benoit of Manchester, Rachel Martin and husband Jerry of East Hartford, four brothers, John Caron and wife Donna of Glastonbury, Albe Caron and wife Susan of East Hartford, Hermel Caron and companion Denise of Colchester, Clermont Caron and companion Jolene of Manchester, sister-in-law Linda Caron of Port St. Lucie, FL, brother-in-law Allan Winshell and companion Denese Hydock of South Windsor, two step grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and great-nephews/nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces, and numerous dear and long-term friends. She received an Associate Degree in Business Management from Manchester Community College, a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Finance from University of Hartford, and graduated from the Trust Curriculum at The New England School of Banking at Williams College. She started her career at Connecticut Bank & Trust and worked for several acquiring banks during her 45 year career. She retired in 2012 as a Senior Vice President of US Trust, Bank of America, Private Wealth Management. She was a past member of the Board of Directors and of the Finance, Properties, and Investment Committees of the Connecticut Valley Girl Scout Council, Hartford, CT. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and was Chair of the Survivorship Committee for the Glastonbury Relay for Life for many years. She was a communicant of St Patrick-St. Anthony Church in Hartford where she served as a committee member for the first Friday Club and volunteered as a lector. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Zia Rahman and the many healthcare providers at St. Francis Hospital for providing kind and compassionate care. She was an avid fan of the UConn women’s and men’s basketball teams as well as a hockey fan. She loved travelling, ship cruses, the theater, swing dancing, but most importantly, enjoyed spending time with family and countless friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, August 17, 2018 at St. Patrick - St Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery, 99 Hubbard St. Glastonbury. Family and friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers memory donations may be made to the House of Bread, 27 Chestnut St, Hartford, CT 06120.
