Obituary of James Anthony Lombardo
It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jim) Lombardo announces his passing on October 30, 2018, at the age of 75. Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children during his Air Force Final Salute. Jim will be lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 51 years Ann Marie; his son Brian; daughter Jill Lombardo McGrady; and her son Maxwell; Brian’s wife Kelly and her children Zachary, James and Olivia. Jim was predeceased by his son in law Wayne McGrady and is survived by Wayne’s children Alyson and Trevor McGrady. Jim will also be fondly remembered by his sister Dolores and her husband Vincent Vartuli as well as his sisters-in-law Margaret Lanzara and Nancy Keegan. Jim always cherished his nieces and nephews Anthony, Jack, Michelle, John, Heather, Jennifer and David.
Jim was born in Stamford, Connecticut and attended Wright Tech before enlisting in the Air Force and serving at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage Alaska. Jim attended Fairfield University and went on to work for Pratt & Whitney for 37 years as a producer and director displaying his technical genius and creativity. All who knew Jim can take comfort that his final years were spent truly fulfilled and happy.
We will miss his perpetual sense of calm, his dry wit, devotion to family, his patience and his ability to fix anything. Jim loved his family, his wife’s cooking, music, television and technology and we will all remember the way his eyes lit up in front of a cannoli. His gentle nature and calmness of spirit made him an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. In his company, we felt special, cherished and loved unconditionally.
Thank you, Dad, for everything you did for us and for your beautiful examples of kindness, loyalty, hard work, humor, but mostly for your love. Until we meet again, we'll cherish the memories. A life well lived and loved, Jim carried his trademark sense of humor to the end. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his Bunny, Patch, Beeper and Paxie. Love you Pop Pop. Best. Dad. Ever.
