Obituary of Diane E. Blanchette

On November 18, 2018 the world lost a beautiful, kind and thoughtful soul. Diane (Martocchio) Blanchette, 71, of Manchester, CT passed from this world peacefully with her loving family close by her side, holding her hands and comforting her.  Affectionately known as “CC”, Diane was born on June 1, 1947 in Hartford CT and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Angela (Ercolano) Martocchio. Diane worked for the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation for over 25 years and retired in October 2011.  She deeply touched the hearts of family, friends and anyone who was fortunate enough to know her. There are simply no words to express how much she loved her family, supported her friends and went out of her way to remember even the simplest occasions of those she cared about.  Diane was witty, always had a funny story to tell, and lit up a room with her smile and laughter. Her heart was warmed as she relished the spirit of Christmas, and was so proud of her beautifully decorated tree, meticulously placed decorations throughout her home, and gifts adorned with specially selected embellishments. Family and friends anticipated the never ending supply of pumpkin bread she lovingly prepared. Diane never missed a Yankee game, enjoyed family get-togethers and kept in close touch with those she loved. She was anxiously waiting to meet her first great-grandchild Noah, in December, and it is heartbreaking that she will never get to meet him and hold him. Diane leaves her husband Ray Blanchette of Manchester; two adoring and devoted sons who will deeply miss her unconditional love, Randy and Andrea Gudauskas of Bolton, and Mark Martocchio of Trumbull.  She is also survived by a brother, Michael and Svetlana Martocchio of Florida; two sisters, Janice and Mark Snyder of South Windsor; and Lori and Mark Solomon of Westbrook; two grandchildren, the absolute loves of her life, Andrew Petrone and his fiancé Kelsey McCullough, both Lieutenants of the US Navy; and Marissa Gudauskas of Bolton. Five nephews, Jeffrey and Laura Snyder of Wallingford; David Snyder of Vernon; Matthew Solomon and his fiancé Shauna Suares of Boston; Michael Solomon of Boston; and Michael Martocchio of Vermont; a niece, Shelley Potter of Vermont; several aunts and uncles, especially dear Uncle Charles Carrozza; many cousins, several to whom she was especially close, Phyllis Carrozza, Nancy Carrozza, Christine Neary and Lois Baskerville. She also leaves her cherished childhood friend Ginny Fox, countless friends, former co-workers and acquaintances with whom she formed special bonds throughout her life; and her two special granddogs, K-9 Trace & Gizmo. Diane’s caring spirit and kindhearted nature will forever be in our hearts, and our days will not be the same without her.  A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon to 3 pm.  Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may donate to a charity of their choice.
