Obituary of Barbara T. Sieber

Barbara (Talmadge) Sieber, beloved wife of Glenn A. Sieber of Simsbury, passed away on January 8, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous fight against ovarian cancer. She maintained her faith, charm, wit, love of family and friends, and wonderful sense of humor through her very last days.

Barbara was born on September 11, 1959 in Bristol, Connecticut to Charles and Ellen (Fitzpatrick) Talmadge. She grew up in Bristol and attended St. Paul Catholic High School.  She then attended The College of the Holy Cross and graduated in 1981 with a BA in Sociology. After college, Barbara worked at WTIC radio as an account executive.  She also volunteered as a member of the Greater Hartford Jaycees coordinating numerous community service projects.  Additionally, she served on the Executive Committee for the Canon Sammy Davis Jr. Greater Hartford Open where she met her husband, Glenn.  After the birth of their second child, Jennifer, Barbara left WTIC and focused on becoming a full-time mother and homemaker.  She remained very involved in her community, her Parish, her high school and her college alma mater. She spent many years helping to fundraise for The College of the Holy Cross in addition to serving on the Board of Directors for St. Paul High School.  In 2012, she was recognized with the St. Paul High School Circle of Honor Award as a result of her dedication and hard work on behalf of the school.

Barbara lived and raised her family in Simsbury, Connecticut for over 30 years.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  Barbara will be forever remembered as a selfless, caring friend who was always willing to help others - anytime, anyplace. She cherished every moment that she had with her family and friends. She was a role model of kindness and grace and those who knew her are forever blessed.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 32 years, Glenn A. Sieber; her mother, Ellen F. Talmadge of Farmington, CT; her three loving children and their families; Andrew Sieber and his wife Rachel and their daughters Emma and Madison of Sneads Ferry, NC; Jennifer Sieber and her fiancée, Ryan Vazza, of Boston, MA, and; Kevin Sieber of Simsbury, CT; her brothers; David Talmadge and his wife Betty and their son, Charlie, of Bristol, CT; Richard Talmadge and his wife Paula of Wilbraham MA, and their children; Maura Lancia, her husband Ben and their son John Paul of Mamaroneck, NY; Michael Talmadge, his wife Michelle Holmberg and their daughter Maisie of Acton, MA; and Carolyn Sebastian and her husband Harry, of Wilbraham, MA.
