I come to this page very often, as Ricardo, aka Uniessence was an incredible friend and confidant. It’s amazing how we met playing a video game, and I and the six others from our clan have all been touched by your soul. Always thinking about you, Uni. Until we meet again my friend…

As we are approaching one year, I often come to this page to reminisce. I’ve never met Ricardo in person or as I knew him The Uniessence, but he made a profound impact on myself and my family. He helped me through some very tough times with my children, in which I could never thank him enough. We’ve lost a precious soul in Uni, but I nor my family will ever forget him. Never will I say goodbye, just until the next time.

Rick I am still in disbelief that you are no longer here. I was a child hood friend and was best friends with his sister Adriana when we were in elementary school at St. Augustine in Hartford. I used to go to the Herrera's house all the time as a kid, his parents were always so welcoming and Rick was always so protective of us girls as kids . My deepest condolences go out to your family. You will be missed , RIP Rick

I am compelled to share that for me, this is a loss on so many levels. Ricardo was the intersection of love, authenticity, acceptance, and an ambition to beat all odds and influence change for the youth he served. He was one of the very, very, very, few leaders of color who never abandoned the community that raised him and in return, he committed 100% back to it.
It is in your passing that I realize how rare it is now a days to have a leader embody love and who led with such a courageous authenticity within the ranks of Executive Directors.
I am deeply sorry, I will not be able to see your future accomplishments. We have yet to realize the impact of your loss in our LatinX community. The hole you leave will never be filled and we are hurting along side your family . You will always have my respect and love. Yvette

I have no words to convey the sadness I feel for the loss of this grand and wonderful man. Ricardo and I were part of an executive leadership group that began in 2007. Following the formal program, four of us - Olivia, Carl, Ricardo and I - got together every month for dinner and drinks. What fun we had! And he spurred a lot of it with his wonderful sense of humor. But nothing surpassed Ricardo's love for his three beautiful girls, Jessica, Arelis and Maya. No one was loved more than they were by Ricardo. I shall miss him beyond measure and send my thoughts and prayers to his wonderful family on their profound loss. Goodbye to a wonderful friend and counsel.

Ricardo was without a doubt the most beautiful soul I’ve ever had the chance to meet. Growing up and having a chance to be a part of Connectikids and getting the chance to have a mentor like him was a blessing, I could always come to him when I needed advice and He would welcome me with open arms and no judgement, even as an adult I would see him from time to time and he would always have such a big smile where ever he went and made anyone’s day better. Rest In Peace Ricardo you’ve definitely made a change in the community and and have forever left your mark. My prayers go out to your family and loved ones.
