Obituary of James P. Blake
James Philip Blake, 62, of Glastonbury, passed away February 28, 2019 after a strong and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was an adored husband, father and friend. He was a dedicated son to the late Philip and Edith (Lukas) Blake of Glastonbury. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Theresa Butera Blake; two daughters, Elizabeth (Andrew) Schwert and Marissa Blake; father- and mother-in-law C. Joseph and Marguerite Butera; siblings-in-law Mary Anne (Peter) Pescosolido, Joseph (Lisa) Butera, Michael (Malorie) Butera, and Tom (Rebecca) Butera; several nieces and nephews; and cherished friend Charley (Barbara) Borecky. Jim retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Revenue Services February 1, where he was a telecommunications manager for 26 years. He was a 1981 graduate of the University of Hartford. Jim was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Paul’s Church in Glastonbury. He loved skiing, music, gardening, cooking and above all, his family. Jim was hardworking, brilliant, fun and giving; he will be deeply missed. Visiting hours will begin at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury on Monday, March 4 beginning at 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St, Glastonbury at noon, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Helen & Harry Grey Cancer Center at Hartford Hospital.
