Obituary of William Williams

William Williams, 74, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Geraldine (Robertson) Williams, died Saturday December 7, 2019 at Hartford Hospital, with family by his side. Born April 5, 1945 in Hartford, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Ryan) Williams. After attending Hartford Public High School, he served in Korea with the U.S. Army Air Corps. Upon returning to CT, he raised his family in East Hartford, and moved to Glastonbury in 1987. He retired from Aetna after decades of service in the mail and transportation department. After retirement, he worked at Home Depot, in both West Hartford and Glastonbury for several years to keep busy.

Bill had a lifelong passion for cars and motorcycles, which he shared with his brother-in-law, James Robertston, who was like a son to him. He was especially interested in antique automobiles, collecting a variety of models over the years. He enjoyed attending the annual car show in Hershey, PA, where he was surrounded by people who shared in his enthusiasm. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, as well as the Willys-Overland-Knight Registry. Bill was a naturally curious man who loved to learn. He could fix anything; he had a mechanical mind and loved solving problems, viewing them as challenges.  He was often called upon to help fix appliances and other objects for friends and family. Everyone loved Bill for his kind nature, and he would go to great lengths to help those in need.  Bill will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, his daughter, Deborah Roberts and her husband James of Hebron, Gloria Williams and her wife Heather Pighetti, of Westfield, MA, and his grandsons, Jonathan and Jeremy Roberts. He also leaves a brother, Robert Williams and his wife Diane of Windsor Locks, 3 sisters, Elizabeth Bussiere and her husband Bernard of East Hartford, Mary Bussiere of Uxbridge, MA, and Carol Williams of Greenfield, MA, a sister-in-law, Elaine Williams of Glastonbury, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Williams. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Saturday, December 14, from 11-1. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the bcan.org (Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network). For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com
