George Gibson Dunn, 88, of Glastonbury, CT and Eastham, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Reynolds) Dunn. Born in Fitchburg, MA, on June 28, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter F. and Gertrude (Gibson) Dunn. George graduated from St.Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg and attended Becker College in Worcester, MA. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then graduated from Fitchburg State College in 1959 with B.S. and M.A. degrees in Education and moved to East Hartford, CT to begin his 35 year career as a teacher and serving as principal at the Willowbrook, Norris, and O’Connell elementary schools and Sunset Ridge Middle School until his retirement in 1994. George was a member of the East Hartford and Glastonbury Lions Clubs, and the East Hartford, Connecticut and National Education Associations. He was a member of St Dunstan Church, serving as a past Eucharistic Minister as well as the Director of Education and a teacher of CCD. George and Marge fulfilled a life long dream by spending summers at their home on Cape Cod over the past 22 years. An active sportsman, George enjoyed sailing on Long Island Sound, skiing, playing golf and tennis with friends, cheering for UConn basketball and the Boston Red Sox, and taking walks to the beach. He also delighted in traveling extensively with Marge throughout the U.S. and Europe, and sipping a nicely aged, smooth Scotch. Dunn and his wife Jennifer of Glastonbury, his grandchildren Gregory, Carol, Daniel, Kevin, Katie, Stephen, Rose, Mandy, and Jane Dunn, Jordan, Daniel and Bailey Edgren, two great grandchildren Claire and Rowan Dunn, and his brother David Dunn of Malden, MA.
