Linda Ellen (Scinto) Helm of Glastonbury, CT passed away at home on May 2, 2020. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Krager and her husband Geoffrey of Torrington, CT, her son Michael Helm of Delray Beach, FL, and grandson Seth Krager. Linda received her BA at Albright College in Sociology, her BS in finance at Central Connecticut State University and her Master of Education at University of Bridgeport. She started her career teaching grammar school in Huntington, CT and Columbus, GA. She then worked various other positions before finally “retiring” and settling in to do volunteer work. She has volunteered for the Glastonbury Garden Club, Children In Placement of Connecticut as a guardian ad litem/monitor, Place of Grace food pantry Grace Church in Hartford, and St. Luke’s Church in Glastonbury. Linda enjoyed walking including around her neighborhood and spending as much time with her grandson Seth and family. She had a fondness of Road Scholar tours, especially tours that involved hiking and kayaking. She enjoyed gardening and assisted with the maintenance of the memorial garden at St. Luke’s Church. Linda was caring, loving, and sought to get the most out of life. She powered through many tribulations. One was the death of her husband Arthur, of 37 years, on February 15, 2004. Another was when she was in the ICU for 3 weeks and subsequently had to wear a halo medical device for several months. She battled against cancer to the day of her passing. Her children have decided to cremate Linda and place her next to her husband’s ashes in the St. Luke’s memorial garden. A celebration of Linda’s giving and life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Linda’s memory to the American Cancer Society or your local food pantry or food bank.
