Tony,
What a beautifully written tribute to Norma and the life you shared. I am grateful to have met Norma and you at the Hearth. She was a lovely lady, and your total devotion to each other was evident. Your steady presence, always by her side caring and encouraging. The way she looked at you said it ALL.
My heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family.

Dear Mr. Fasano, Karen, Laura, Stephen and Susan,
I wish I could have attended Mrs. Fasano's wake this past week, as in addition to wanting to express my condolences, I would loved to have seen you all in person to reminisce about the special times spent at the Cape and at your home in South Windsor and Glastonbury.
There are so many memories that come to mind as I think of Mrs. Fasano. One in particular is an audiotape of us all (Fasano, McCusker and Soovajian kids) walking toward the beach from your cottage in Chatham, Cape Cod. Clear as day is Mrs. Fasano's voice leading the walk and instructing us kids to "walk on the road on this side because there is no poison ivy to worry about." I still have that tape some 40+ years later. Then there was my/Cathy's wedding reception party in 2005 where, upstairs at my Aunt Rita's place, Mrs. Fasano led all the ladies parading in a dance that turned out to be the highlight and talk of the night.
She knew there was a time to be trustworthy, cautious and responsible but also a time to just flat out enjoy herself without any inhibition. I'm sure these qualities have a lot to do with why she remained friends with people like my Mom for nearly 75 years.
Love, Mark
P.S., Attached is a photo circa 2011 at my sister's house during my parents' 50th wedding Anniversary Party.

Fasano family,
It’s hard for me to express what Norma meant to me and to my family. Her friendship with my mom began over 70 years ago – they were more like sisters than friends. They knew each other’s parents, were in each other’s weddings, welcomed the births of each other’s children. Similarly, Maryanne McCusker was Norma’s (and is my mom’s) other “sister”. The three were inseparable. There wasn’t a thing they would not do for one another. Norma was not only one of the inner three -- she was my godmother.
Our families grew up with in each other’s company. Every third weekend in the 70s our family made a trip to the Fasano home in South Windsor. Norma would always greet us with that amazing, sincere smile. She was the gracious mom who baked cookies for the children, who looked out for my brother Mark and I, as though we were her own. Her candor was honest and gentle.
Just as I miss those early memories and many others of our time on vacations together, I will miss the days of lunch and coffee at Nordstrom’s café after my daughter was born. The circle of friends grew larger as the years went on, but the inner three were always at the core of those Nordstrom lunches. Norma would share stories of her grandchildren and give me encouragement when I asked about how to handle toddler situations or other new parenting conundrums.
Time has a way of keeping the best of the memories alive. I will always remember and cherish my time with Norma.
Tony- You have always been the consummate husband. You define what it is to be in a marriage. You have stood by Norma. She lived a wonderful life, surrounded by pure love and faith. May she rest peacefully.
We love you all.

My memories are of a lovely, sweet woman, always a smile carried with attractive grace. I’m very sorry such a kind person suffered with such a terrible disease and you all suffered along with her. The stories of Tony’s never fading devotion are an example for all. May Norma be surrounded by love and lots of fun with all those she now joins in heaven. She will be deeply missed here on Earth.

Sending my love and sympathy to each of you. Remembering Norma over the years we spent raising our young families with its daily challenges yet finding time to plan fun events whether local or antics at the Cape with Morse’s and Youngs. We Remlaps were extra special.
She was a loving friend who was always there for you at any moment. She has a special place in my heart.
Tony, you have been the greatest example of strength, compassion and love to share your life with Norma in the most difficult years. We will miss her terribly yet thankful that she is at peace in her Heavenly Home. Love. Evelyn and fsmily

Tony, Karen, Laura, Steven & Susan,
We can not help heal your grieving heart at this point, we can only tell you that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss Norma terribly, but we know that she is now at peace.
Ed and I have been remembering the 58 years of friendship we shared with both of you. We are putting a smile on our face, along with the tears, as we remember the happy times, and not the last 6 years of the struggle she had.
I personally remember raising our families on Palmer Dr. and drinking coffee or wine together depending on the time of day!
There were the days of Women's club, scavenger hunts, late nights bowling and writing the first Orchard Hill school newsletter together, as well as the many Remlap get togethers.
Tony, you were a wonderful husband and caretaker, and fulfilled your marriage vows until the very end. Ed, especially, has admired your dedication.
My Mother, 106, remembers making manicotti with Norma while we were on vacation. She touched the hearts of many.
Her beautiful face and voice will be with all of us forever.
Peace and love to you all, Ed & Phyllis
