Obituary of Kurt Pahl

Kurt P. Pahl, 75, of Glastonbury died from cancer on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was born June 25, 1937, in White Plains, NY, as son of the late Paul and Margaret Pahl. Kurt grew up in White Plains. After attending Archbishop Stepinac High School, he graduated from University of Detroit with a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and Masters in Physics. He then married his beloved sweetheart, Rosemary A. McGraw (Pahl), who passed away just recently in October of 2011. Kurt worked for Pratt and Whitney for a number of years and then became a Marketing Manager for Chandler Evans. During his career he traveled for both business and pleasure within the United States and abroad. Despite his work schedule, he participated in many activities with his children. He enjoyed weekends and vacations with his family skiing, camping, sailing, and traveling to new areas. Kurt, along with Rosemary, were both active in the South Glastonbury Community Club and were a lead couple in the world-wide organization known as Marriage Encounter until departing. Through the members of both organizations and numerous close family and friends, they were able to endure the tragic death, Michael in 1987. After retirement, Kurt spent summers in Rhode Island with family and friends, and winters enjoying sunshine, golf and beaches with Rosemary in Florida. He also spent time painting, which was a life-long hobby. Kurt loved his family, especially his two grandsons. He was fortunate to have many extended family and friends who added richness to his life. Kurt was truly considered a wonderful and compassionate man, as he touched the lives of many people in a very heartwarming way. Kurt is survived by his sister Marilyn Pollack of Jacksonville, Fl; daughter and son-in-law Marie and Henry Fredericks and grandsons, Michael and Thomas Fredericks of Portland, CT. He was predeceased by his son Michael Kurt Pahl. He is also survived by a number of brothers and sisters- in- laws, nephews, nieces and even grandnephews that brought much joy into his life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 18, 2013 at11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 51 Freestone Ave., Portland.
