Unbelievable..... Lori was a treasure. A fantastic human being who I met during my time at URI. Oddly... I was thinking of a story about a past event and was telling my children and... thought of Lori. I then, as we do nowadays, searched her name... and this is what I find. So sad, heart breaking...but to those who loved her.... her family and son... this is the legacy she left.... a loving memory to all who knew her.

Dear Janet, Walt & Family,
I am so sorry to read of your daughter, Lori's sudden passing. I can't imagine what you are going through but you have my most sincere sympathy. I just saw both of you a year ago, and my heart goes out to you and your entire family. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I am with you in love and thought. Know that I am here and will get in touch with you later.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Lori's passing. Stunned. She was such bright and beautiful and SMART person, so generous of spirt. I met Lori while she and I were working on our Master's in Education and CT certification at the University of Hartford in the summer of 1996. We shared many adventures in the class we took together and I have so many wonderful memories of strolling through the Wadsworth Atheneum with her or exploring the bodegas on Park St. (a challenge given to us by our professor). We had such fun! She attended my wedding that winter and years later, when she was hired at RHAM High School (where I had already been working for several years), I was overjoyed. I know the students and faculty cared about her deeply. I also know of her deep love for her son, Jack, as she would absolutely beam when she spoke of him to me. I have since moved to another position, but learned of Lori's passing through the RHAM community I still hold dear. I will hold Lori in my heart and I will honor her in my memories always. My deepest condolences to her family and all those who loved and knew her.

Lori was an gifted educator, specifically to our freshman. Her nurturing and quiet mannerism influenced many students into creating not only a solid academic base but also in becoming a well-rounded lifetime learner. You can never accurately estimate how many lives she has touched, but I am glad I had the opportunity to work with her. Her gentleness and love for learning will be missed.
Thinking of you all, with my deepest sympathy!

I am extremely saddened to read about Lori. She was my Graduate Assistant when I was in charge of student teaching at the University of Hartford, and sincerely the best of the best. I visited her in New Mexico when I presented at a conference, and we had an absolutely fabulous time. It is with tremendous sorrow that I send my condolences to her family.

It is with sincere sympathy I send my condolences to Lori's son and her family. Lori was a lovely person to work with during my time with her at RHAM High School. I worked with her regarding freshmen students she had in common with my Social Studies teachers (when I was Soc. St. Dept. Cord.) and when I became temporary English Department Coordinator. She was caring of her students and always encouraged them to do their best. Lori was very helpful within the English Dept. and was an excellent representative of the RHAM staff. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Ms. Bono was my favorite teacher at RHAM and helped me through some of my darkest times going into highschool. Now graduated from college, I still remember her kindness, empathy, and vulnerability often. She encouraged me to pursue arts/writing, and touched so many other students....I’ll miss her so much. My deepest condolences to her family and friends at this time.

I am very sorry for your loss! Lori was a wonderful human being who will be sorely missed at RHAM! I had the opportunity to co-teach with her my first year at RHAM and was fortunate to see her teaching first hand. She was a great teacher, and was able to make real connections with her students. She spoke of Jack all the time, and of her dogs. RHAM will not be the same without her!

Lori was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was thoughtful, and fought so hard. She adored her son, and constantly shared stories about her life and her son. He was her light in dark times. She also loved and adored her partner Joel. Her and Joel were soulmates, and best friends. They stood by each other’s sides and were there for each other despite the challenges they constantly had to face. My heart breaks for Jack and Joel.
Our conversations always had depth and were intimate, that only we could share. Our souls were connected regardless of the time that would go by between them. Lori recently shared a book with me, which I intended to read, but got caught up in the busyness of life. I know if I had finished it, we would have had an intellectual share of thoughts on it. I promise to finish it Lori.. I will miss your beautiful face, and your consistent kind thoughts and sincere compassion for humans.
Life wasn’t kind to you, but you were always kind. I pray that you have found peace.

Lori was certainly the most influential teacher in my life. When I walked into her 9th grade English class, I was not a fan of reading and writing; when I left her class after a year, I loved it. She continued to mentor me in this area as I advanced through school, and I would say she is a big reason why I am in a writing intensive career many years later. Beyond the classroom, I went on to become great friends with another one of her students and his family, who I wouldn't have known otherwise. I am saddened to hear about Lori's sudden passing. My sincerest condolences go out to her entire family. - Morgan Cunningham
