Obituary of George L. Tryon

George L. Tryon husband of the late Elaine D. Tryon passed away peacefully on Jan. 1st. Son of the late Raymond and Hilda Tryon, he was a lifelong resident of Glastonbury. He was a 1951 graduate of GHS where he was a class officer. He was employed by A.E. Moseley Dairy Farm, then started his own business of G.L Tryon Fuel Oil, where he worked until his retirement. He was also part owner of Addison Package Store. George was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed gardening which he was great at! He was an avid Red Sox and UCONN fan. He was a 50+ year member of the Grange and a member of the Masons, Columbia Lodge #25. He was an active member of So. Congregational Church of East Hartford where he was a trustee emeritus, and proudly ran the yearly plant sale. He was predeceased by his wife, his sister Shirley Fuller, his brothers Warren and Don Tryon, and granddaughter Erin Handel. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy Devereux, Helen Taylor, Fran Barker, and sister in law Diane Tryon. Three daughters and their husbands; Lisa and Bob Handel, Michele and Randy Bock, and Betsy and Rick Rodrigue. His seven grandchildren who he was so very proud of; Jared Handel, Mike (Cara) Bock, Becky (Brett) Jack, Ashley (Patrick) Lawlor, Jenna (Kevin) Snyder, Taylor Rodrigue and Evan Rodrigue. Three great granddaughters, Morgan, Hadley, and Reagan. And many, many friends. Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic all services and burial will be private at this time.
