Obituary of Lisa A. (Michaud) Sullivan
Lisa A. (Michaud) Sullivan, 51, of Cromwell, formerly of East Hartford and Colchester, passed away, with her loving family present, on Wednesday January 6, 2021 after her second, long battle against cancer. Lisa is survived by her husband Patrick, daughters Sadie and Emily, mother Donna Michaud (Tallman), sister Karen Hunt, stepmother Marcia Michaud, stepsisters Laurie Cerbo and Diana Wahl and several nieces and nephews. Lisa is predeceased by her father Donald Michaud. Lisa was born in Hartford and grew up in East Hartford where she attended St. Chris school. Lisa went on to graduate from East Catholic High School, earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Eastern Connecticut State University and later returned to school to earn her Paralegal degree from St. Joseph’s College where she graduated at the top of her program. Lisa made wonderful, life-long friends at all these schools. She began her 30 years of state service in the Governor’s Office where she saw the inner workings of politics and government before moving to the Dept. of Children and Families where she would remain for the rest of her career. Both the work that she did and the people she worked with were a source of pride for Lisa. She was known as someone that was always willing to help personally or professionally. Her co-workers were like family and her work family will miss her more than she could possibly imagine. Lisa met her future husband, Patrick while at East Catholic. They reunited in college and had more than 30 years of happiness together before her passing. They enjoyed golfing, playing pool, trips to Florida and time at their family lake house. Lisa was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed years of tailgating and Patriots games, including the infamous “Tuck Rule” game, the opening of Gillette stadium, and the coldest game in Patriots history. As much as she loved her Patriots they were a distant second to her daughters Sadie and Emily. Nothing made her happier or prouder than to watch them on stage for their dance recitals and musicals or school sporting events. She never missed the opportunity to support and cheer them on. Lisa embraced Sadie and Emily’s friends as her own children and a house, pool, car or yard full of kids was a joyous occasion. Lisa was known for her trademark beverage – Diet Pepsi - and one was always close at hand. She loved her family fiercely and never gave in to her cancer. She focused her energy on living the life she had. Lisa was kind, courageous and loving. Her joyful spirit, boundless optimism and unyielding love will be missed by all who knew her.
