Obituary of Nick Anthony Christmas
Nick Christmas, 51, of Marlborough, CT passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital from complications due to Covid. Born January 22, 1970 in Springfield, MA he is the son of Joan Christmas and the late Leo L. Christmas.
As a teen, Nick was a member of The Glastonbury Police Explorers and when old enough enthusiastically joined both the Glastonbury & Marlborough Volunteer Fire Departments. “Nicky” graduated from Rham High School in 1989 then enlisted in the US Air Force. He served as Air Force Security Police during Desert Storm at Griffiss AFB in Rome, New York. After the Air Force, he went on to be a State of CT Corrections Officer. He started out at Somers Correctional facility and ended his career in transportation at the North Base Correctional Unit, where he retired after 22 1/2 years. He loved his job as a Corrections Officer, he always had a great respect and rapport with the inmates. During those years, besides raising a family, Nick also opened Zac’s Video Games in Colchester (where he employed half of Colchester’s teenagers) and worked as a rep for Lawrence Eyewear. After retirement, not being able to sit still, he went on to work at Champagne motors as a registry driver and then as Lawrence eyewear representative.
Nicky loved life and family and we know as he left, and his first grandchild Peyton was born, she fulfilled the circle of life. He truly l it up every room he entered and always made sure to reach out by phone or in person to all family members and friends. His greatest joys were his three children Zach, Nicole and Luc.
Nicky loved golfing and playing cards with his father, brother, cousins and friends. He loved trying new places to eat and meet new friends. His big bear hugs were the best and he was always there for anything you needed. No one was a stranger to Nicky and he made sure to get to know anyone he came in contact with on a personal level. He really cared about all people and showed it through his loving and unique sense of humor that only Nicky had.
Nick is predeceased by his father Leo L. Christmas and grandparents Gabrielle and Arnold Messenger, Helen and LeRoy Christmas and his cousin’s Buddy Christmas & Tony DiFranco. Nick is survived by his love Starr Kernozek of Willimantic; mother Joan Christmas of Marlborough; son Zachary Christmas & Rebecca Whittemore of Andover, daughter Nicole & Jose Martinez and granddaughter Peyton of Meriden, son Lucas Christmas of Moodus; brother Steven & Brenda Christmas of Marlborough, sister Wendy & Shawn Dietz of Marlborough, sister Kelly & Ryan Wolfe of Wallingford and 8 nieces and nephews.
