Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Olson

Elizabeth (Lisa) Ann Olson, 78, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on April 29, 2021. A kind, thoughtful and generous person, Lisa graduated from Connecticut College in 1965 with a mathematics degree. After a brief stint at John Hancock Boston, she found her true calling as a teacher and taught math for 25 years at Middletown Junior High and High Schools. Her dedication and hard work went well beyond the classroom: she served on the boards of the Connecticut Education Association and her condominium association; and she volunteered for the Nature Conservancy. Always working, in retirement she was employed at the Middlesex Medical Group, various local restaurants, and the Herbert T Clark House.  She could be found playing tennis, working in her gardens, or sipping coffee and reading the paper at Riverfront Park.  Lisa was a dedicated cat lover and truly loved all animals—stopping to pet passing pups and visiting cat adoption locations everywhere. Feel free to donate in her name to the Great Meadows Conservation Trust, Inc., P.O. Box 171, Glastonbury, CT 06033 and online at gmct.org or the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch, online at fundforanimals.org/blackbeauty/ or 1-866-482-3708

Lisa was always on-the-move going on trips, attending plays, exploring new restaurants, or going to watch the Lady Huskies.  She also loved a road trip and always said yes to venture to The Berkshires, Nantucket or North Carolina.

Aunt Lisa was devoted to her nieces and nephews and was equally active in the lives of all their children.  She is survived by her two sisters Eleanor Crowther and Edith Turkington, brother-in-law Edward Turkington, nephews Mark Crowther and Andrew Turkington, and nieces Lisi Lesch, Tina Purdy, and Martha Turkington-Caplan. And since friends are the family you choose, Lisa’s is enormous - you all know who you are. Her kindness was sincere and true and unabated…and it made the world a little brighter.
