Obituary of Victor Hugo Lozano

Victor Hugo Lozano, 71, most commonly known as “Hugo” of Manchester CT passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, New London.

Born in Lima, Peru, he was the beloved son of the late Domingo and Carmela (Hidalgo) Lozano. Hugo emigrated to the US about 50 years ago, he worked two full time jobs and raised his three kids at the same time. He later earned his Associate Degree and became a Certified Nurses Aid. He worked in various types of healthcare, but most recently at the Hebrew Home in West Hartford.

Hugo attended North American Martyrs Parish at St. Mary Church, East Hartford.

Surviving are his son Alan Lozano of East Haddam, his two daughters Maria Sanhueza and her husband Diego of Marlborough, Susan Verraneault of Manchester and her fiancé Daniel DeJesus, his brother Luis Enrique Lozano and his wife Betty of South Windsor, his sister Maria Lozano-Aguilar and her husband Luis of Coventry, his six grandchildren Asiana, Corey, Alyssa, Esteban, Logan and Zoe, and several nieces and nephews.

If you knew him you know he touched your life in some way. He’s infectious love for animals, plants and life in general was so motivating. He could tell you stories for days. His loud deep voice was recognizable anywhere, even the way he sneezed could not go unnoticed. Anybody who knew him, knows that he was an enormous socialite. We could literally be in a random restaurant in like Idaho and he’d bump into someone he knew. He did so much for the benefit of others and left so little for himself.  He was selfless and kind.

Hugo loved life, he was always smiling, helping everyone, welcoming everyone, especially if you were new to this country he was the one to help solve every problem, he loved traveling to Cabana and made sure he went back every year for the fiesta, he loved dancing and listening to la Banda, los huaynos and when he wasn’t there he was always listening to the “hora cabanista”

He enjoyed watching action movies, or watching la doctora Polo in “caso cerrado” or soccer, he loved people, he enjoyed every celebration, he was part of it all and he was that person who would bring extra gifts just in case someone felt left out

He was proud of his children to the point that even a taxi driver in Peru knew about a grandkid coming into the world before the rest of the family was told.  He was so proud of his grandchildren he kept displaying their accomplishments. He would go out of his way to cook for all three kids and buy different sandwiches for his grandchildren.  He found every excuse to order peruvian food and bring peruvian pastries to all his children.  He made time for all of them and the extended family and friends.

Hugo was one of a kind and everyone will forever love and remember how much joy he brought into this world. It will never be the same without him. Hugo will never be forgotten. He will always live in our hearts.
