Obituary of John A. McVey
John Andrew (Jud) McVey, 65, of Glastonbury, CT and formerly of Centerville, MA died on January 4th 2022 after a short but valiant struggle with Lung Cancer. Jud was known for his engaging personality, quick wit, intelligence and dedication to his job as Managing Director of 1 & Done Agency, LLC in Glastonbury CT. There he was loved and admired by friends and co-workers, alike. Jud loved everything about the sea, especially sailing. He was a former pilot and skydiver. Jud graduated from Barnstable High School where he developed a passion for hockey. He took this love of hockey to the next level, participating in adult hockey leagues and eventually became an accredited referee. Jud was a kayaking enthusiast and spent his time away from the office kayaking the CT River and photographing birds. Jud is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary McVey, formerly of Centerville, MA and his nephew, Jefferey Tavares formerly of Yarmouth, MA. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Brienna McVey, and 2 grandchildren, Ava Rose and Douglas Rose Jr. He also leaves behind brother, Brian McVey, 2 sisters, Mary Alys DiStasio and Colleen Baker, many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Jud will be missed by all who knew him. Per his wishes, his ceremony and burial will be private. Donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
