It is with heavy hearts, that our family mourns the loss of a mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother Helen Tranchina on May 8th.
A true matriarch in every sense of the word, she was a natural born leader and acted as the North Star for those in her proximity. She is remembered for an adventurous spirit and her enormous heart.
She lived a big life, starting in the small town of Canton Maine. She marched to the beat of her own drum, as is evident by one of our favorite sepia-toned family photos of her atop a motorcycle as a teenager. She was a woman on the move who raised her family in East Hartford Connecticut, and spent a good portion of her adult life and golden years in Hollywood Florida. Finally returning to Glastonbury Connecticut to live out the rest of her days surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She could always be counted on to make things happen, all while maintaining a smile and keeping her signature beehive perfectly in place. She had a great sense of humor and could find common ground or at least share pleasant conversation with almost anyone.
Being a part of her family meant knowing you always had someone in your corner, no matter how difficult things may be. She was a tough woman and fierce protector of her family. She had no lack of compassion, and though she was the epitome of capable, she valued humility. She often focused her energy outwards, always giving and providing what she could for those in need. She kept her hands busy and crafted countless blankets, hats, onesies, and sweaters that will be cherished for generations.
Though her absence is deeply felt, we are all better for the time with her that we were gifted. We will find a way forward, which is exactly what Helen would want for all of us. Not to be sad at her passing, but to celebrate her life, cherish the time we had, and hold the lessons she taught close to our hearts.
**Thank you Christopher for your beautiful tribute to your grandmother❤️
My family & friends have been incredibly supportive & loving, I feel very blessed ❤️ you all, Marjorie & Family
