Obituary of Irene Monroe

Irene F. (Kennedy) Monroe, 86, of Glastonbury, wife of the late Stephen F. Monroe, died Wednesday May 8, 2013. Born July 5, 1926 in Bronx, NY, daughter of the late James A. and Mildred (Webster) Kennedy, she had lived in New York City, New York, Holiday, Florida and Glastonbury, Connecticut throughout her life. She would often share fond memories of summers shared with relatives in North Carolina where the family had immigrated from Scotland. Irene was a true New Yorker having worked on Wall Street for more than 40 years. She often spoke of her favorite place being the top of the Brooklyn Bridge. There she said you can see beautiful Lady Liberty and all of life being lived! She is survived by her nieces and nephews and their spouses; Kathryn T. Cross of Glastonbury, Peter and Sherri Kennedy of AZ, Brian and Carolyn Kennedy of East Hartford, Linda Kennedy of Glastonbury, Scott Kennedy of Glastonbury, Glenn and Karen Kennedy of MA, John Martin Kennedy of FL, many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins in Connecticut, New York, North and South Carolina , Kansas, Arizona and Florida. She was predeceased by her brother James A. Kennedy and his wife Annemarie (Ferling) Kennedy, a nephew Kevin A. Kennedy and a grandnephew Tyler J. Connelly.
