Obituary of Donald E. Christie

Donald E. Christie, 91, of Glastonbury, husband of the late Evelyn (Winter) Christie, died Tuesday September 20, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. Born August 6, 1931 in Pittsburg, PA, son of the late Charles and Aurelia (Willwohl) Christie, he had lived in Glastonbury for the past 52 years. After his father’s death at an early age Don and his siblings were raised by Harold Sandhagen.  Prior to his retirement he was a manager for the State Labor Department. Don served in the US Marines during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart Recipient.  Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev John A. Fleming Council #2533, the Peter P. Monaco, Jr. Marine Corps League, and St. Paul Men’s Club. Don is survived by his 3 sons and their wives, Tim and Debbie Daniels of San Juan Island, WA, Donald, Jr. and Jane Christie of Windsor Locks, Michael and Gina Christie of Enfield, 8 grandchildren, Jessica and Stacey Christie, Emily and Brian Christie, Elizabeth, Connor and Sam Christie and Lydia Compton, a brother Edward Christie and 2 sisters Rose Marie McCallan and Marion Mancini. He was predeceased by a sister Virginia Mahoney and 2 brothers Bob Miller and Ken Christie. A graveside service with military honors will be Wednesday Sept. 28 at 11am in Neipsic Cemetery, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. For online condolences please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
