Obituary of Claire S. McCabe

Claire Susan McCabe, 78, of South Glastonbury, CT, passed peacefully on March 3, 2023 with her three children by her side.

Claire was born January 6, 1945, in New York City to Henry and Eleanor Kroslak, and was the eldest of their three children.

Claire is survived by her three children; Christopher Thompson of Winchester, NH, and Amy (Thomas) DePasquale of Glastonbury, CT, whom she loved & raised with Rodney Thompson, and Kerry Riley Morgan of Hopedale, MA, whom she loved & raised with the late Thomas McCabe. She is also survived by her sister & best friend, Jayne (Mike) Dwyer of Stormville, NY. Claire has reunited in heaven with her beloved brother Russell Kroslak, of Amenia, NY.

One of Claire's greatest joys in life was becoming both a grandmother and a great grandmother. She was blessed with grandchildren Melissa (Ryan) Miller DePasquale, Thomas (Rachel) DePasquale, Samantha (Puneet) Mathur, and Abigail (Nicholas) Thompson. She loved so dearly her great grandchildren, Zachary, Joseph, Maddox, Roswell, and Devan.

Claire will be deeply missed by her companion, Patrick Lynch, of Glastonbury, CT.

To anyone who knew Claire, they would share much the same sentiment; she was a lot of fun, and had a kind & gentle soul. Claire always had a warm smile and an inviting spirit, and she was eager to engage in conversation, have a cocktail, or go for a walk. She was a lifelong New York Yankees fan, and she enjoyed socializing with her wonderful friends, both near and far. She loved her life, her little home, and all the people that she prayed for each and every day. She was truly a gift.

While we mourn her loss, we celebrate Claire’s life of courage, strength, resiliency, kindness, dedication to helping others, and her mantra of “keeping it simple.”

Claire’s family and friends are encouraged to come celebrate her life on May 6, 2023 from 12pm-5pm at the Glastonbury Elks Club, 98 Woodland St, South Glastonbury, CT. We hope you will join us in honoring her wishes of letting go of loss, but holding on to love, by sharing stories, laughs, and photos with us.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed  to the Connecticut Humane Society,  701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111, or made online at https://cthumane.org/?form=chswebsite.
