Obituary of Bernard J. Ward

Bernard J. Ward, 92, of Glastonbury passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Breiner) Ward for 57 years.

Born in New Haven, Bernard was the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Kearns) Ward. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was at one time stationed in Europe and spent many days with his Irish cousins who he kept close contact with over the years and were very dear to his heart. 

Bernard earned his Bachelor's degree and was a beer man all of his working career, starting with Hull's Brewing in New Haven, then moving on to Ballantine, Pabst and retiring from Molson Brewing as Regional Sales Manager.

Bernie had a second home in Newport, Rhode Island and spent many happy days there with family and friends.

He will be dearly missed and survived by his wife, his daughter Brendalyn Rex of Glastonbury, his granddaughter Lillyanne Rex and his nieces Debra Anderson, MaryBeth Michaelson and Serina Breiner along with his nephews Barry Breiner, Brad Breiner, David Breiner, David Colbourn, James Corbett, Daniel Corbettt and Robert Corbett.  Bernard was predeceased by his sister Ann Colbourn, his brother-in-law David Colbourn, his sister Mary Corbett, his brother-in-law Robert Corbett, brother-in-law Bruce Breiner and his son-in-law Robert Rex,

Friends may call on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at Ss. Isidore and Maria Parish at St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury.  Bernie was a long-time member of St. Paul's and member of the Knights of Columbus.  Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Green Cemetery at 12 noon on April 1, 2023.  Bernie had an affinity for animals and memorial contributions may be made to the Potter League, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, Rhode Island 02842  in lieu of flowers.  For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
