After knowing Ray for almost 60 years, it is hard to imagine the world without him. Yes, he was the tallest person in our family — but that physical stature was more than matched by his personality — someone you always looked forward to seeing, to spending time with, to having a meaningful conversation with. No one was better at swapping funny stories, sharing opinions, talking travel, kicking around sports, business and politics, putting deceptive but deadly backspin on a tennis return, or shucking a bucketful of oysters. It’s hard to briefly summarize the ways we will miss Ray. Our hearts go out to Claire, Mark, Kristen, Meridith, their wonderful spouses and children, and all who loved him.
