Obituary of Anthony F. Keegan

Anthony F. Keegan, 83, of East Hartford, husband of the late Marsha Keegan, passed away peacefully Friday August 18, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. Born June 27, 1940 in Franklin, NH, son of the late John and Rose (Martel) Keegan, he had lived in Glastonbury many years moving to East Hartford 17 years ago. Prior to his retirement he owned and operated Keegan Painting for over 30 years. Tony was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on June 22, 1977 in St. John’s Lodge No. 4 (now Wyllys-St. John’s #4) in downtown Hartford.   He affiliated with Columbia Lodge #25 in Glastonbury in 1989.  Tony served as Worshipful Master of both lodges, in 1982 and in 2020.  He was also a Trustee of Wyllys-St. John’s for many years.  Tony was appointed District Deputy for Masonic District 6A for 2009-2010.  Tony further broadened his masonic experience in 1979 by joining the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Hartford.  He was Coroneted a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason in St. Louis, Missouri on September 23, 2003.  Tony served as Commander in Chief for Nathan Hale Consistory from 2004 to 2006.  In 2015 Tony received the Pierpont Edwards Award in Bronze for Distinguished Masonic Service. He is survived by his 3 sons and their spouses, Robert T. Keegan of East Hartford, Scott A. and Eileen Keegan of Manchester, Mark C. and Mary Keegan of East Hartford, 2 sisters, Rose Keegan Riley of Wethersfield, Jennifer Hacker of  Riverside, CA., 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Paige and Dillon, and 2 great grandchildren, Cameron and Maddox. He was predeceased by a brother Robert Keegan and a sister Kathleen Murray. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 25 at 10am in Ss.Isidore and Maria Parish at St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday August 24 from 6-8pm.
