Obituary of Lucy Silvergleid

Lucy Rose (Nestrunk) Silvergleid, 96, of Glastonbury passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 8, 2023. She was the widow of Paul Silvergleid whom she was married to for nearly 70 years.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Lucy was the daughter of the late Filip and Viola Nestrunk. She was a Glastonbury resident for nearly 70 years. After attending NYU, she met the love of her life Paul Silvergleid. They were married soon after that, started their family and moved to Glastonbury where Paul managed the family business, Franklin Pharmacy. Lucy was active in her community and became a member of the Glastonbury Art Guild, enjoyed painting and creating sculpture. She later became active selling real estate in Glastonbury for Century 21. Lucy was involved in the Glastonbury Garden Club for over 50 years, enjoyed skiing and playing golf. She loved animals. Lucy had an infectious laugh and always had a smile to share with everyone she met. Later, she enjoyed going to the senior center to take classes and socialize. Lucy attended St Augustine Catholic Church in South Glastonbury for well over 50 years. She loved to sing in the choir and had a beautiful voice. Lucy enjoyed traveling. Each winter she and Paul would travel to California for three months to visit their grandchildren.

Surviving are her two daughters and a son-in-law Arlene Silvergleid Bumb and her husband Stephen Bumb of Huntington Beach CA, Karen Silvergleid of South Glastonbury, her grandsons Kevin Baumb, Jeffrey Bumb and Eric Bumb. Her sister Katherine Petit preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 am at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury with burial in Green Cemetery to follow. Friends may call on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
