I only today learned of Mark's passing and am deeply saddened. Mark and I were first year (and other year) roommates in college. Mark was truly one of my best life friends and I still laugh at many wonderful memories. Mark was an awesome person in so many ways. I would love to connect with Barbara at some point. My email is dmq8991@verizon.net.

Hello Sabia Family, I am sorry this is so late but I just read about Mark's passing. I don't know if you remember me but my son, Robbie, was one of Mark's cubs many, many years ago (I think Robbie is Drew's age). Mark was just the nicest, kindest man to Robbie (and to me), and I remember him well. I am so sorry for your loss. Julie Blier

Although we lost touch after college, for three years Mark was one of my most trusted and loved friends. A fierce competitor with the kindest demeanor and outlook on life. Mark touched everyone he met with a positive stubbornness for everything right. I’ll mourn my pal for a long time, but always with a smile and a laugh. Clay Gilmore

“Mr. Sabia” was the first Scoutmaster for us when we moved to Hebron almost 15 years ago and Shaughn (and we) loved him. Mark was an amazing Scoutmaster and mentor to both 28 and 1028…and to me as a new Scoutmaster starting the girls troop. He was supportive and approachable and offered excellent insight. He was someone I hoped to emulate.
I promised I would share these photos of him “in action” in the early days of the girls’ troop. He was so passionate about educating them, empowering them and growing them into true leaders. You’ll notice that he caught a quick glimpse of me grabbing these shots but stayed on his game. His focus was always on the Scouts.
He made an impression on us all. All five of us (Shaughn, Ryan and Brynn…all Eagle Scouts… and my husband Steve and I) will always remember his voice ringing out his signature “Gentlemen!” echoing though the Hebron Elem. cafe! It was just one way he set the expectation of what they should strive to be. We are all better for having known him.
