Obituary of Rose A. Greenwald
Rose (Angelini) Greenwald, 88, of Glastonbury, CT died Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Rose was born to Costantino and Philomena Angelini and spent her childhood in New Haven, CT. She attended Annhurst College in South Woodstock, CT and graduated with a BA in English Literature and Latin. After teaching at the University of Wisconsin, she enrolled in a teaching program sponsored by the U.S. Army where she traveled all over the world, eventually meeting her husband, Charles “Chuck” Greenwald, who was stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps, in Okinawa, Japan.
Rose was a long-time resident of Glastonbury, CT. After having children, she taught Latin at Ellington High School for 35 years. She particularly enjoyed traveling to Italy, with Rome being her favorite city. She was an avid painter and enjoyed volunteering as a docent at the New Britain Museum of American Art.
Rose was a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt. She was predeceased by her husband Chuck Greenwald and leaves behind her three children, Stephanie and her husband Don Costello and their two sons Benjamin and Robert; Terri and her husband Todd Alboum and their three sons Steven, Jeffrey and Gregory; Charles Jr. and his wife Antonia and their daughter Cecilia and son Charles III; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Road, Glastonbury. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
