Obituary of Marie J. Gamache

Marie J. Gamache, 92, of Hartford, died peacefully, Friday, November 10, 2023 at Salmon Brook Nursing Home in Glastonbury, CT  She was born in Swanton, VT on October 27, 1931 to the late Elphege and Yvonne (Chevalier) Gamache,  as one of ten siblings. Marie lived in Hartford where she was known as an avid walker well into her 80’s. (with 2 canes, because, ‘walkers were for old people’)   Marie lived a modest life as a Catholic School teacher of science & Nun for many years. She had a love of the outdoors and her calm demeanor was to teach people about nature and the simplicities of life. Often heard saying “That’s the Way it Goes” A gentle soul who just adored Cats; along with her friend Cathy Ferreira, of Hartford, took much joy in caring for colonies of stray cats in the city. Marie is survived by several nieces and nephews including Sandra Graham, of Hebron, and Susan Morneau, of South Windsor, both of whom spent hours enjoying her company.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to Masonicare Hospice for their care.
