Obituary of Olga Freeman

Olga (Kunikewich) Freeman, 90, of East Hartford, wife of the late George B. Freeman, Sr., passed on to the next world Monday, July 29, 2013 in South Windsor. Mrs. Freeman was born June 15, 1923 in Glastonbury, to Simon and Mary (Krawicz) Kunikewich, both of whom emigrated to the U.S. from the Ukraine. She had lived in Glastonbury many years where she attended school moving to East Hartford 20 years ago. Mrs. Freeman is survived by her two sons; Kenneth Freeman and his wife Sandra of Tolland, Dale Freeman and his wife Joanne of East Hartford, her daughter Deborah Kelly ("Swee' Pea") and her husband Brooks of New Haven, her brother Peter Konney and his wife Joan of Manchester, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Merrill Konney. She was Olga, Ollie, she was a daughter, wife, Mom, sister, Aunie, cousin, Nana and great Nana. She was a friend, confidante and caregiver to all family and friends, including her father and mother and then her husband. Mrs. Freeman was a graceful, kind and gentle lady and soul; she was a brave, proud and devoted woman who understood the preciousness of life. Her bright blue eyes just twinkled with life-her zest for living revealed in her sense of humor, intelligence and creativity, especially found in her beautiful gardens where she worked tirelessly. She also treasured her summers at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and in Provincetown on Cape Cod, Ma. She was an active member of the First Church of Christ Congregational, Glastonbury, where she selflessly volunteered her time for dozens of years. She will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her dear life. Funeral service will be Friday Aug. 2 at 2:00pm in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday Aug. 1 from 4-6pm. Memorial donations may be made to the First Church of Christ, Congregational, Glastonbury.
