Obituary of Vivian G. DiScipio
Vivian (Krupovage) DiScipio, 86, of Glastonbury, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Robert A. DiScipio, to whom she was married for 59 years.
Born in New London, Connecticut, on April 29, 1937, Vivian was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ann Krupovage and the youngest of three children. Vivian was a kind and loving person who cherished the time she spent with her family. She enjoyed family vacations and holiday gatherings, and Christmas Eve was especially important to her. She adored her grandchildren and looked forward to their visits to find out what they have been doing and what was new with them. She had a generous nature and was deeply committed to helping others. She served as president and treasurer of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, for the State District Council and Glastonbury Conference, for many years, working tirelessly to help those in need. She had a passion for reading, enjoyed crossword puzzles, game show challenges and an occasional trip to the casino to play the slot machines. Vivian worked hard for years as a bookkeeper for Baronet Coffee in Hartford, before co-founding Sweeties, a popular French-style café and bistro in Glastonbury, in the 1990’s. Vivian’s legacy of kindness, generosity and dedication to family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her four daughters: Denise (Gary) Bigler of Cheshire; Judith (Richard) Senechal of South Glastonbury; Katherine DiScipio of Glastonbury; Lisa (Rob) Gagnon of Glastonbury, her 10 grandchildren: Max Bigler, Carly (Jared Rosen) Bigler, Natalie Bigler; Allen (Lindsey) Senechal, Frank (Yanira) Senechal and Richard Senechal III; Andrew (Paige) Barry; Margot Gagnon, Jacqueline Gagnon and Garrett Gagnon; and her sister, Johanna (Steven) Firgeleski of East Lyme. In addition to her parents, Vivian was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Krupovage.
