Obituary of Janet S. Ives

Janet (Stiles) Ives, 94, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Born in Bronxville, NY in 1929, Janet was the daughter of the late Elliott and Eleanor (Beves) Stiles. Janet resided in Glastonbury for over 50 years, was married for 52 years to her late husband, Alden Ives, and enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Janet obtained a Registered Nursing degree from Waterbury Hospital in 1949 and also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Connecticut in 1979. She worked as an RN at Mount Sinai Hospital for 10 years, specializing in Geriatrics. Her interests included learning languages, fly fishing, mastering word search games, knitting, golf, skiing and travelling. She was known to have special affinities for chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.

She leaves behind two children, Richard Ives and Tracey (Ives) Michaels as well as her daughters-in-law Carolyn Ives and Ann Fisher-Ives and her son-in-law Michael Michaels. Janet’s son, Russ Fisher-Ives, predeceased her in August 2023. Her 6 grandchildren, Katherine, Jeffrey, Dillon, Keegan, Cameron and AJ, as well as her great grandson Ethan, will all miss her. Janet relished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Services will be held at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:30 am. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, with her funeral service to follow.
