Obituary of Ann Davis Janus
Ann Davis Janus recently left this world on April 9 to meet the face of her creator after succumbing to an 8 year courageous battle with cancer. She will be missed by many close friends and family, that she has endeared, that are living in various states across the country. Ann’s passion for reading continued throughout her entire life. It was a large part of her career having taught reading to over 1000 elementary students during her tenure as an Elementary School teacher and Reading Consultant in the East Hartford School system. Ann typically read as many as three books a week and was a member of several book clubs in CT and FL. She also, volunteered as a religious instructor at St Paul Church in Glastonbury and Our Lady of Peace in East Hartford.
Ann was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and wife to her family. She loved hearing of their life experiences and cherished the affection they bestowed upon her.
Ann was not only an avid reader, but enjoyed playing tennis in various groups especially as a member of the Glenbrooke Tennis & Swim Club.
Later in life she became addicted to playing golf in many golf groups, including the Portland GC Friday evening couples group, and GlenLakes ladies and couples groups in Florida.
Ann and her husband Al traveled and cruised the world to most of the US and nearly a hundred different countries including China, Russia, Europe, Egypt, Iceland, Japan, Viet Nam etc. These were special times they shared with their long time friends and travel partners, Pat & Paul Labrie of Salem, MA. Her favorite vacation venue was Hawaii, which she visited frequently with family and friends.
In addition, to her husband Al of 58 yrs of marital bliss, she leaves her daughter Kimberly and husband Scott Dhuyvetter and their son Jared of Lewis Center, Ohio, her daughter Cheryl and husband Ryan Harmon and sons Riley and Ryder of Glastonbury and son Mark and wife Stacy Janus and daughter Alexis and son Conor of Glastonbury.
