Obituary of Howard Wood
Rev. Howard M. Wood, Jr., 99, of South Glastonbury, CT, husband of Ruth (Trumbull) Wood, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born February 14, 1914 in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Howard M., Sr. and Jennie (Ives) Wood he had lived in Glastonbury since 1952. Rev. Wood founded the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Glastonbury, and co-founded the Faith Community Church in Moosup. CT. He was pastor of the Salem Street P.M. Church in Lawrence, MA, and the Leffingwell Baptist Church in Bozrah. CT. Rev. Wood also served in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua. Besides his wife he is survived by his six children and their spouses; Virginia Wood Foster of Tolland, CT, Beatrice Estes Hahn of Glastonbury, Attorney Howard M. Wood, III and his wife L. Kay of Glastonbury, Clifford W. Wood and his wife Judith of Vernon, CT, Rev. Laurence M. Wood and his wife Susan of Berkley, Michigan, Russell A. Wood and his wife Catherine of Coventry. CT. He also leaves 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was predeceased by an infant son Russell Wood, three sons-in-law Lloyd Foster, Bradford Estes and Arthur Hahn, 2 brothers Fred Wood and William Wood. Funeral services will be private.
