James and Barbara,
I was saddened to hear of your Mom's passing. I knew her for many years, having attended First Church in Glastonbury since I was a little girl. I had the privilege of working with your Mom and Dad at The Glastonbury Citizen over thirty years ago when I worked there as a typesetter. Please accept my sincere condolences. I will miss seeing her at church.

Dear Jim. Carole and I were greatly saddened to learn of Marion's passing. We passed many pleasant summer afternoons visiting at the pool with her and always loved meeting her around Glastonbury.

It was my great privilege and pleasure to have known Marion and Henry. I met their son Jim at Syracuse U, and we became friends and roommstes. I was a guest at the Hallas home a number of times in the 1970s, and still have the book on Chinese cuisine that Henry showed me. And, if my aged memory is right, Marion’s mom was sharp and still driving in her 90s. May the memories of Marion be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

I will always remember Marion singing in the First Church choir with my mother, Edith. She always had a smile for anyone she encountered!

Jim and family, So many memories of your Mom come up to me upon hearing of her extraordinary long life and passing…of Marion and my Mom Lou Jonah—fast buddies—jumping from their TV-room chairs when the UConn women’s basketball team won the game…long afternoons challenging one another at Scrabble…your Mom’s laughter and kind words. Our parents were married on the same day, June 25, 1949, as were their mutual friends the Bartons. Marion has a booster club awaiting her in heaven!
