Obituary of Richard A. Majerski

Richard “Rick” Majerski, 64, of East Hartford, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Hartford on July 16, 1960 to Elizabeth (Gesuelle) Majerski and the late Richard A. Majerski, Sr.  In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his sisters Deborah McMahon (Michael) and Deanna Lorenz (John), his brother Raymond Majerski, his nephews Ryan and Jonathan McMahon and great nephew David and many extended family members. Rick grew up in Glastonbury and spent the last twenty years as a resident of East Hartford. He was a 1978 graduate of Glastonbury High School and a 1982 graduate of The Connecticut Institute of Art & Design. Rick was a professional photographer and a member of the National Press Photographers Association. He was a 20+ year employee of Popcorn Custom Products, East Hartford, where he was a Department Production Manager and Pop Culture/Movie Historian Consultant.

Rick was a prolific photographer who spent many years shooting portraits, art photos and his real joy, professional and amateur sports. He was a life-long hockey fan and a dedicated Hartford Whalers fan. He also enjoyed Trinity College hockey. He attended many Whaler games as a Press Photographer, shooting the team in action and the entire NHL. Rick’s photos have been seen in many publications, such as Hockey Digest, Topps Sports Cards and in various local newspapers and high school yearbooks. His body of NHL photos has been selected to be archived at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada.

Rick loved movies and was a collector of vintage memorabilia. He also had an infectious love of music and enjoyed the live concert experience. He got great pleasure sharing that love with others, frequently attending “Bumbershoot”, the music festival held in Seattle, WA. Rick was a voracious reader with a sharp mind for trivia, details and possessed a wicked sense of humor.

Rick touched many lives, more than he realized. He was taken from us much too soon and will be deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 5. 2024 at 11:00 at North American Martyrs Parish in St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford.
