Obituary of Patricia V. Bussa
Patricia V. Bussa, 85, entered into eternal life on August 28, 2024. Born in Van Buren, Maine to John and Helen (Powers) Violette, she moved to Connecticut as a child and grew up in Hartford and West Hartford. She attended school at St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford and graduated from William Hall High School in West Hartford. She attended UCONN and later in life graduated from Manchester Community College. During her UCONN college days she met the love of her life, Louis Bussa to whom she was married for over 50 years. After raising her family she returned to work at various places including Fluke Industries, the Travelers Insurance Company, and the State of Connecticut, Department of Agriculture. She took an interest in politics, having served on the town Planning and Zoning Committee as well as participating in the local Democratic Party activities including helping campaign for Steven Cassano and John Larson. Throughout her marriage to Lou she helped when she could with the family farm, Bussa Orchards. This led to her involvement with the Connecticut Pomological Society for many years as secretary. Even though she was busy with work and the farm, she and Lou enjoyed square dancing and their nights out at the Hartford Stage. Pat was an active participant at St Augustine Church in South Glastonbury where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She was an avid fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team and followed them for a long time. Patricia is survived by her two sons, David Bussa of South Glastonbury, Douglas Bussa and his wife Lynne, their children Tyler, Lilly and Saraya of South Glastonbury, her brother, Richard Violette and his wife Anna of Rocky Hill, her nephew Michael Violette and his wife Barbara and their children Jeffrey, Griffin and Rachael of South Windsor, her niece Karen Fierro and her husband Herman and their daughter Emily of Oregon, her adored cousin Gerald Madore and his wife Sylvia of Wetumpka, Alabama, and other extended family members. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 10:00 am at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial will be in Green Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
