Obituary of Mildred Kocum

Mildred (Welch) Kocum, 103, of Glastonbury, wife of the late Frank C. Kocum, died Tuesday October 8, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. Born February 3, 1910 in East Hartford, daughter of the late Edward and Carrie (Taylor) Welch, she had lived in Glastonbury many years. Prior to her retirement she was a switch board operator for the telephone company. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Diana Kocum of Glastonbury, two grandsons and their wives; John and Nancy Gandini of Portland, Michael and Debra Gandini of Vernon, four great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Virginia Gandini, a brother Sherwood Welch and three sisters Ruth Lester, Evelyn Walker and Lillian Kocum. The family would like to thank the staff at Glastonbury Health Care and staff at Hospice for their kindness and care shown to Mildred. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Oct. 11 at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday Oct. 10 from 5-8pm.
