Obituary of Alexis D. Dombrowski

Alexis (nee. Dow) Dombrowski, aged 93, of Glastonbury, CT died on December 29, 2024.

Alexis was born on March 10, 1931 to Jane and Reginald Dow, Sr. in a farm house in Exeter, Maine. She was pre-deceased in death by her parents Jane and Reginald Dow, Sr., first husband Oliver Clayton Taylor (d. 1979) and their daughter Nancy, her second husband William “Bill” Dombrowski (d. 2011), and her siblings, Billie Grenier, Ardith Reid, Lillian Dwayne, and Alisa Reynolds. She is survived by her children Laura, Jane, Douglas (Michelle), and her grandchildren Jason (Kimberly), Sarah (Alvin), Kate (Brandon), Samuel (Jessica), Aaron, Alexandra, and her great-grandchildren Camden, Zachary, Rylan, Oliver, Sonny and Naiya as well as her siblings Hazel Cable, Catherine (Tom) Flaherty, and Reginald (Diane) Dow, Jr.

Alexis and her siblings enjoyed growing up in Maine near family, spending many summers at the lake house her grandfather built. Born before the invention of zip codes, Alexis learned the land of Penobscot County, Maine the old fashion way: memory and landmarks. Just a few years back she brought her family on a self-guided tour and found the house that she grew up in with no GPS or map!

Moving to Glastonbury, CT with her first husband, Oliver in 1950 and made the town her home, building a life and raising four children there. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her second husband, Bill. They went on two cross country adventures in their slide-in camper and nothing but time to see the beautiful country.

Alexis lived life to the fullest, allowing joy and laughter to follow her throughout her life. Just weeks before death, she was still enjoying games of Rummikubs, Setback, Phase 10 and of course weekly bingo at her beloved Naubac Green Apartments with many of her friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 at Green Cemetery in  Glastonbury, CT at 11 am.
