Obituary of Glenis Mollegen

The Rev. Glenis (Gralton) Mollegen, 75, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of Albert Theodore "Ted" Mollegen, died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Manchester Manor. Born November 4, 1938 in Alexandria, VA, daughter of the late Raymond and Glenis (Anderson) Gralton, she had lived in Glastonbury since 1998. She received her BA from Wellesley College and her MA from Union Seminary (NYC)/ Columbia University. Rev. Mollegen was ordained a deacon in 1983 and a priest in 1984. Rev. Mollegen served in the Episcopal Church at St. Mark's Mystic, St. John's Niantic, St. Paul's Willimantic, Grace Newington, St. James Glastonbury, and Immanuel St. James Derby. She is also survived by two daughters, Glenis Ione Mollegen Byrne and husband Eric and their children Chelsea and Madeline Byrne of Marlborough, and Marion Mollegen McFadden and her wife Suzanne and their children Carmen and Theodore McFadden of Takoma Park, MD, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Robert "Bobby" Gralton and a sister Marion "Mimi" Riegert. Rev Mollegen dedicated her life to pastoral care, faith development, and the healing of souls, and was widely admired for her compassion and humor. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm TODAY at St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St., Glastonbury, CT 06033. A memorial eucharist service will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 6 at 1:00 pm in Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church St., Hartford. The celebrant will be the Rt. Rev. Ian Douglas, Bishop of Connecticut. The interment will be private.
