Obituary of James Ingraham
James Frederick Ingraham III, a resident of Glastonbury for 57 years, died on December 12th, 2013 on his 88th birthday. Mr. Ingraham, the son of the late James & Marie (Linehan) Ingraham, was born and raised in Peabody, Massachusetts. In 1943, at age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as Boatswain's Mate First Class aboard the U.S.S. Long Island, which saw combat across the Pacific. After the war, Mr. Ingraham enrolled at the University of Connecticut, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Forest Management. Upon graduation, he worked for a few years for the U.S. Forest Service before joining Pratt & Whitney in the Purchasing Department. After 30 years with Pratt, Mr. Ingraham owned and operated Coin-o-Matic Car Wash in Manchester. He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years Anne Caroline Kozak, who passed away in 1999. Mr. Ingraham is survived by his sisters Virginia Baker of Seabrook SC, and Mary Jane Pucheu of Sudbury, MA, and a brother David of Tolland, CT. He leaves behind four children: James F. Ingraham IV of Acton, MA (and his wife Stephanie); Brooks M. Ingraham of South Korea; Curtis U. Ingraham of Sausalito, CA; and Laura A. Ingraham of Washington, DC. Mr. Ingraham was blessed with 5 grandchildren--James F., Breton, Maria, Michael (Dmitri), and Nikolai. Mr. Ingraham loved hunting, target shooting and was a lifetime member of the NRA. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter's Church, 160 Main St., Hartford on Saturday Dec. 14, at 11am with a visitation at the church a half hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in the memory of Mr. Ingraham be made to the VNA HealthCare, 999 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, CT. 06105 and/or to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1365 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082.
