Uncle Don,
With your recent passing, it is with times like this that all of the memories start coming back in an instant.
I remember...
How blessed I was for you and Aunt Roe being my godparents.
As a kid, how my Uncle Don had such a cool Plymouth that was a push button automatic.
How you were able to back up your car with ease, especially down the long driveway on Hillside Avenue.
How meticulous you were about cars.
I can't recall where we were, but I remember you moved a tractor trailer cab, because it was blocking us in and the driver was nowhere to be found. How cool was that?
All of the times we went to visit you and Aunt Roe at the Park Avenue flat. It didn't always seem like we had a lot to do, but no matter what we all enjoyed our families spending time together.
Going with you to the sub base in Groton and then stopping for a bite to eat on the way home.
Your love for Lanteri's pizza and sharing with us on many occasions.
When you and my Dad would go for a ride for a milk run to Lincoln Dairy and then the two of you would sit in the car out front and talk what seemed like hours.
How we can now laugh when many years ago my brother Pat and I decided to paint Cheryl's tricycle.
How much the loss of my father impacted you.
The pride you had in being a certified swim instructor.
Going golfing with you at Keney park golf course.
The time you took to teach me to swim at Goodwin Park pool.
The many conversations we had.
Your love for Aunt Roe.
Your love for family. How proud you are of your girls, grandsons, nieces and nephews.
While these are only a few memories that come to mind, these and many more will be with me forever.
Love,
Your nephew Joe
