Obituary of Clifford Moon
Clifford Garfield Moon, Jr. died peacefully March 14, 2014 at home with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Margaret De Leo Moon. He was born in Anthony, RI August 4, 1930 to Clifford Garfield Moon, Sr. and Harriet Spencer Moon. He graduated from Hopedale (MA) High School where he continued to keep in contact with his classmates. Clifford earned his degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1952. After marrying Margaret, he enlisted in the Army. After serving his country, Clifford had a long career in engineering. He was employed by Westinghouse, Hamilton Standard and Emhart among other companies. He was a lifetime member of ASME and IEEE.His passion was sailing. He participated in many offshore races. He captained his own sailboats in New England and Caribbean waters. In addition to his loving wife Margaret, Clifford is survived by his sister Janet Rose of Belchertown, MA, his sons Clifford Garfield Moon III and his wife Susan of Woodstock, CT and Joseph G. Moon of South Glastonbury. His sister Winifred Stockton predeceased him. Calling hours will be held, Monday, March 17, 2014, from 10a.m. to 11a.m. in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury with a funeral service following at 11 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MIT Alumni Association (alum.mit.edu), Heifer International (Heifer.org) or a charity of the donor's choice.
