For 25 years, George was a mentor, a sponsor, a spiritual advisor, a father figure, but most important, a good friend..George understood that the essence of life is love and he lived that through all the years I knew him. He touched the lives of hundreds of people through his selfless giving. Other aspects of George that were readily visible were his humility, his gentleness, his kindness and his wisdom. I will miss George dearly.George was a very special person in my life on many levels. He was a tremendous source of inspiration, encouragement, strength, and support for me through many difficult times. I often affectionately referred to George as "Yoda." I would add to this that I know he made God proud that he created such a man as George, who said yes to his Loving Will, and walked this earth in the service of others. It is my hope that I meet up with him again.

George was a good friend and tireless worker carrying AAs message of experience, strength and hope. He was the first person at a West Hartford Alkathon to reach out to me -- that was 25 years ago.
I will miss you George but know you leave a legacy of friendship and recovery in the hearts of all those you journeyed the path of recovery with.

A sacred light has stepped into nature, now free to be everywhere, and in all things. He shines in the sky through the sun and the moon, and stars are the wink of his eye. Walks beside in the rustling leaves; whistles by the spring bird's song; soars high, but watches close, in the hawk at mountain peaks. Joins in gentle laughter with the bubbling brooks; and a compassionate smile so slightly to one side, grins back somewhere in formation of rocks and lush green nooks. With much gratitude for a beautful blessing named George, who now gives 'shine-hugs'.

Having met and worked with George back in the 80's was truly a gift that I will treasure. George was a ray of sunshine in the life of everyone he met. When my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer, George was there with his eternal wisdom and spiritual encouragement to buoy my hopelessness and give me the courage to take one day at a time, to view life as a gift to be treasured and not dwell on the negative side. Although, we did not see each other very often, periodically we would run into each other in various places, usually where he would be volunteering, and doling out his gems of humor putting a smile on even the saddest faces! George, you will be missed, but the legacy you leave behind is priceless. To his girls, you were truly blessed for the years you had with him. May the memories of that joy bring you comfort. He was a great friend! One of a kind. Rest in peace, Gloria m. Page

Aunt Nancy, Nanette, Georgette, Suzy, Laurie, Michelle and families, I was so sorry to hear of your dad's recent passing. Please know that we are thinking of you and wish you peace during this very difficult time. I didn't know your dad well, but I will never forget his kites and his love for the beach. I couldn't have been more than 10 or 11-years-old when I was blessed to visit his kite store and then run along the beach trying to get the crazy contraption in the air. It was multi-sided and had us giggling for hours. I also remember your dad's kindness and willing smile as well as his love for a good story. Today, I picture he, along with my mom and all the others that we love at Jesus' table for Christmas dinner. As much as we will always love and miss them, it makes my heart happy that they have found peace. I love you all and hope to see you tomorrow evening. With Love, Faith and family

My time with George was real short (1968 - 1972). We rode our motorcycles in the woods together and he mentored me in many ways. I specifically remember George coming all the way to the Bershires for a motorcycle race in which I was competing. Even though my dad was there as well, George gave me a ride home and we stopped at a real nice restaurant along the way. He asked me about the competition, how school was going, who I was dating at the time and many other questions. Even though I was just 18, George was the first adult other than my parents who I really felt cared about me. For some reason, I never forgot that time with him and just wanted to let you know that his memory will always live inside of me. I cherished his friendship, even for the short period of time that our paths crossed.
