Obituary of Bernard Hovanec

Hovanec, 79, of North Windham,CT. beloved husband of Lorraine (Willett) Hovanec, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Born October 9, 1934 in Lilly, PA, son of the late Martin and Mary (Phillips) Hovanec, he had lived in East Hartford for 43 years moving to North Windham 11 years ago. He was a real estate appraiser and owned Bernard J. Hovanec Associates. He was a graduate of UCONN, a member of the Appraisal Institute, the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers, a past member of the Hartford Kiwanis Club and the East Hartford Chamber of Commerce. He was an appraiser for the Veterans Administration and the FHA and part time Assessor for the Town of Willimantic. Dad was an avid surf fisherman who loved Cape Cod Race Point. He loved to be in his garden surrounded by wildlife. He loved his family and he loved to joke around. Besides his wife he is survived by his three children and their spouses: Joleen and James Richard of Bolton, Mark and Brenda Hovanec of North Windham, Derek and Linda Hovanec of Marlborough, nine grandchildren: Brittany, Kyle, Jordan, Zachary, Samuel, Jacob, Natalie, Alyssa, Tyler and three great grandchildren, Cassandra, Liam and Lexi. He was the youngest of eleven children and the last surviving one. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 5 at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Sunday May 4 from 3:00 to 5:00pm.
