Obituary of Claire Kenny
Claire R. Kenny, 55, died peacefully Wednesday, August 13th in Branford, CT after a long and painful illness. Claire resided in Naples, FL for the past 25 years. She was born in Bayshore, NY on April 5, 1959, moved to Glastonbury, CT in 1966 was schooled in Glastonbury before later graduating from the Canterbury School in New Milford, CT in 1977. After college, Claire worked in the restaurant business, including the partial ownership of Striper's Restaurant in Wethersfield. Claire later moved to Naples, FL where she was an active and well-respected residential real estate broker for over 20 years. When Claire first moved to Florida, she pursued her deep passion for art by starting a successful boutique business known as "Colours by Claire Rene". She studied decorative painting for many years. Her beautiful faux finishes and murals enhanced many South Florida homes in both Collier and Lee Counties. Her successful business sold exotic home furnishings that she brought to tropical life with her unique glazing, marbleizing and trompe L'oeil artistry. Claire was a true original with a candid communicative style which left little doubt on her perspective. She gave completely to her loved ones; especially to her parents and Naples neighbors Maurice and Maureen Kenny who pre-deceased her; her nieces and nephews and her beloved aunt and uncle, Doris and Frank Nastro, of Naples whom she looked in on until she was no longer healthy enough to do so. Claire Kenny leaves behind her sister Diane (and David) Arnett of St. Augustine, FL; her brothers Martin J. (and Angela) Kenny of Wethersfield, CT and Christopher M. (and Donna) Kenny of Edgartown, MA; her younger sister Tara Ann (and John) Young of Walpole, MA; her nine nieces/nephews that include Maura Kenny, Grant Kenny (pre-deceased); Ryan Arnett, Courtney Arnett, Patrick Kenny, Mallory Williams, Kevin Kenny, Maurice Young and Jack Young. Memorial services and internment will be private at the request of the decedent. In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire Kenny's memory should be sent to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 8209, Naples Florida 34101.
