Obituary of Nancy Pettit

Nancy L. Pettit, 79, of Glastonbury, died Thursday September 25, 2014 at home after a long illness. Born July 16, 1935 in Nuangola, PA, daughter of the late Edwin H. and Edith (Barnecut) Pettit, she was raised in Wethersfield and moved to Glastonbury in 1970. Prior to her retirement in 1990 she was a Language and Arts teacher for the Glastonbury School System for 22 years. Nancy received her BA from UCONN and her MA plus six from CCSU. Nancy enjoyed playing tennis, cycling, hiking with the Appalachian Mountain Club, swimming in the Glastonbury High School pool, creative writing and was a member of the Hartford Writers League. She is survived by a brother Frederick S. Pettit and his wife Loujean of Wallingford, a sister Shirley M. Jones of Enfield, her dear friend Pam Maccabee of Glastonbury and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Tuesday Sept 30 at 10am in St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Monday Sept 29 from 5-7pm.
