Obituary of Cecile Senna
Cecile Marie (LaMothe) Senna, 88, of Glastonbury, beloved wife for 63 years of Anthony O. Senna, passed away peacefully Tuesday November 11, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Born May 15, 1926 to Philiza and Blanche (Benoit) LaMothe, she was raised on the family farm in Shelburne, VT, moving to Glastonbury in 1951. On the family farm, she loved horses and enjoyed driving the team and raking hay. She loved the summer breeze and the song of the birds. Cecile was an award-wining 4H member specializing in textile and clothing design. Music was a large part of her daily life, participating with her mom, and became an accomplished musician playing piano throughout her life. Cecile was an honor student and President of her class ('45) at Mount Saint Mary high school in Burlington, VT. She earned a full scholarship at Trinity College, and furthered her education at Champlain College and Burlington Business College, earning a degree in Accounting. Cecile worked at the American Woolen Mill and within the Insurance industry as an Administrator. Cecile and Anthony married and moved to Glastonbury, CT in 1951, where Anthony found employment at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. Cecile chose to be a home maker raising seven children. As a devout Catholic, she taught religious education for 35 years, and until her death designed and created Baptismal robes for the children of Saint Paul's parish. She was president of the League of the Sacred Heart and an active member for many years. Cecile worked for the Hartford Times as a newspaper distributor, where she managed, mentored and counseled young newspaper carriers. She acted as a second mother to many, fostering confidence and responsibility. In her latter years, Cecile delighted in her Children, Grandchildren, their spouses, and Great-Grandchildren, participating in large family gatherings where she enjoyed card games, piano playing and story-telling. Cecile is survived by her husband Anthony, her children and their spouses; Patricia and Leland Tripler of Manchester, Andrea and Michael Vail of Glastonbury, Steven and Lynn Senna of Bolton, Ronald and Donna Senna of Glastonbury, Sandra and William Jordan of East Haddam, David and Amy Senna of Coventry, 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Michael, 2 brothers Joseph LaMothe, and the Rev. Philip LaMothe, and a sister Marguerite Maille. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Nov. 15 at 10am at St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury.
