Obituary of Della Gutt

Della A. (Blazis) Gutt, 92, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack" Gutt, died Sunday December 25, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. Born August 30, 1919 in Hartford, daughter of the late John and Adela (Kvietkauskas) Blazis. Della married Jack in 1944 and moved to the family farm raising 3 children, Carol, Richard and Irene. Della worked with Jack in creating a successful farming business. Della grew up in Poquonock in a large close extended family with brothers, sisters their spouses and many nieces and nephews who always delighted in visiting Auntie Della at the farm. Della enjoyed a good game of cards and more often than not was the victor. She loved her granddaughters, Courtney and Leeza and was happy to be around them as they grew up. "Gram" (as they called her) loved teaching them her special recipes and sharing farm life with them. Her family wishes to thank all those who cared for Della over the past 5 years, especially her friend Genya who was by her side for 3 years warming her heart and bringing her back to her Lithuania roots. She gave much love to many and we will miss her warm smile and her subtle sense of humor. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard J. and Cosby Gutt of Glastonbury, 2 daughters, Carol A. Gutt and her spouse Marie Duffy of Shrewsbury, MA., and Irene J. Gutt of Columbia, 2 sisters her twin sister Jennie Blazis of Suffield, Eleanor Kula of Poquonock, 2 granddaughters, Courtney Kelleher and her husband Michael of Walpole, MA, Leeza Gutt of Glastnbury, a great granddaughter Ainsley Kelleher and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers John and Anthony Blazis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 30, at 11:30am in St. Paul Church, Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday Dec. 29, from 3-6pm.
