Love and celebration of a beautiful soul

What I will remember about GP Vinci the most was that he was a free spirit. I only met him a couple of times, but one of those times he was fishing from the shoreline of a pond or stream (can't remember where it was). While he was fishing, he was unleashing a tidal-wave of cruse words (the worst you can imagine) at a 10 year old kid who was urinating near the bushes instead of using the porta-potty nearby. The kid's parent didn't say anything because, well, they knew kid deserved it! Later that night I would hear GP Vinci jamming on his rock-guitar, singing God knows what, and that was at 130 in the morning! He had more energy than I did!
GP Vinci was a hero, having survived the depression and having fought in WW2. Admittedly he was a flawed hero, but those are always the best ones because they mirror humanity's diverse nature. He was a larger than life character who hand-crafted guns for a hobby (or for the mob depending on the veracity of those tall tales) and who apologized to no one. Even near the end he was fighting his nurses and doctors from their prodding ways!
Like I told my wife Michelle when we heard of GP Vinci's death, God had better keep an eye on him…GP Vinci is going cause a ruckus!!!

As a kid, I would go down to the basement and watch my grandpa make rifles. He shaped the wood, sanded it with gentle energy and painted his rifles with metallic colors. I also watched him fill the very bullets that he would then fire and win awards for. His craftsmanship was just incredible. He was a proud man with many awards to show for it. In a special room in his house were many trophies for precision, gold metals and targets where he was spot on! My grandpa was passionate, an artist, confident and a musician. Heaven is fortunate to have him. I hope he is called to be an entertainer of the angels.
One of his grand daughters,
Michelle

My grandfather was a great man. I remember when my sister and I were kids, we listened to him play his electric guitar and a harmonica at the same time. He was an award winning sharpshooter and had many trophies and metals in a special room of his house. I have always looked up to my grandfather for being someone who taught me to stay original. Be happy and be yourself. I will miss you very much Grandpa! I know you are celebrating amoungst the angels and relatives that went before you. After all, heaven is on earth as it is in heaven. I also ask for a special prayer for my mother and my family who lives in Connecticut. Lord, watch over them and heal their hearts. Family is the greatest gift of all, and I pray that they be given complete happiness and serenity to take in the gifts of family.

Papa Joe. I don't even know where to start. When you first started coming into the store I didn't know what to make of you, but over time your cavalier spirit, salty vocabulary, and surprising strength turned you into family. No matter what was happening in the store you always found ways to make us laugh, even on our worst days. You truly are one of a kind, and you won't ever be forgotten. You've lived a rich life Joe, one that I can only hope to live up to. Not only were you a spark plug of energy, but you cared a lot for the people that were near to you. You've helped me through a few trying times and for that I can't thank you enough. I will always remember the hilariously inappropriate things you said and will cherish the memories we've made. I still have the picture of us on Halloween, that's a classic. I'm proud to have known you at all. You're friend - Jimmy

Joe you will be missed greatly. In the few short years I have known you, you have left many lifetimes of great and hilarious moments to be remembered. All of your one liners and thoughts about guitar gear will keep us smiling and laughing at the shop for many years to come. May you rest in piece brother and as you would always say "I'm going to Hollywood"
